Heir to the throne after his brother, Emperor Aleksandr I Pavlovich (Tsarevich of Russia 8 Nov 1799 NS). Renounced
any rights to the succession 26 Jan 1822 (NS) (the renunciation became
official 28 Aug 1823 NS). In the secret manifest of 28 August 1823 Emperor Aleksandr I re-adjusted the succession in favor of his brother Nikolai
Pavlovich, later Emperor Nikolai I Pavlovich |
